DAVID ANDREW HEPLER

David Andrew Hepler, 81 of Alloway died March 10 at his home. Born in Tyrone, PA. He was the son of the late Irvin and Florence Chislett Hepler. Mr. Hepler graduated from Harrisburg High School and Penn State University with a degree in chemical engineering.

He served in the US Army 78th Infantry and Company B 303rd Medical Battalion, Lightning Division, June 1944 to May 1946.

He was the safety engineer at E.I. DuPont Chambers Works. After retirement from DuPont, he continued to teach defensive driving and the right to know law at colleges and businesses across NJ.

He was a member of the Woodstown Moose, VFW Post 8224 of Alloway, and very active member of Ruritan serving as secretary of Delmarva/NJ district and past President of the Wistarbug Club, district governor, Zone 4 governor, and editor of the district newsletter. He was also one of the oldest members of the Retread Motorcycle club and traveled all over the country on his Honda Goldwing.

Survived by his wife, the former Shirley Shimp, sons Andrew Hepler of Garland, Texas, Jeffrey Hepler of Pilesgrove, NJ, Michael Hepler of Alloway, NJ; daughters Leslie (Hepler) Phelps of West Deptford and Laurie Hepler of Deptford, NJ and 6 grandchildren. Predeceased by sisters Elizabeth Taylor, Louise Zehner, and Janet Elms.

Services will be held Wednesday 11 am in WOODSIDE FUNERAL HOME, 613 Salem-Quinton Rd., Rt 49, Quinton Township where friends may call after 10 am. Friends may also call Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Salem County Veterans' cemetery, Pilesgrove.
