 •  Thu, Dec 31, 2009 David E. Kazdan, 68, died suddenly but without suffering on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009. Mr. Kazdan, who was born in Detroit, Mich., grew up in Allen Park, Mich., and enrolled at the University of Michigan at age 16. He then graduated magna cum laude from the University of Detroit with a B.S. in accounting. Mr. Kazdan was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Alpha Sigma Nu, the Honor Society of Jesuit Colleges and Universities. He worked as a Certified Public Accountant for Arthur Andersen’s audit division in both their Chicago and Houston offices. He resided in Houston from 1975 through 2004, and then relocated to Silver Spring, Md., for career and family reasons.

David was married for 42 years to his wife, Barbara, whom he met 50 years ago when they both were freshman at the University of Michigan. In addition to his devotion to his family, he also had a lifelong love of nature and wildlife. Some of his best memories are of the times he spent deep sea fishing in the Atlantic Ocean around Florida and in the Gulf of Mexico. He also enjoyed traveling by road and visited many states over the years in his motorhome. Mr. Kazdan also was a longtime member of Congregation Emanu El in Houston.

Mr. Kazdan was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Morris Kazdan and Anne Rechtman Kazdan. David is survived by his wife, Barbara Rady Kazdan of Silver Spring, Md.; his sister, Debbie Bruckner of Dallas; and his three children, Sarah Kazdan Isaacs of Chapel Hill, N.C., and her husband, Rob Isaacs; Jessica Kazdan Novik of Chandler, Ariz.; and her husband, Yoni Novik; and Josh Kazdan of Los Angeles. He also is survived by three grandchildren, Hannalee Isaacs, Serena Isaacs and Gabriel Novik.

A private memorial service was held in Mr. and Mrs. Kazdan’s home.
