David Levinson, 85, retired merchant, died at the home of Will Schoelch 168 W. Broadway Sunday at 6:30 p.m. Death was attributed to pneumonia which followed an attack of influenza which Mr. Levinson suffered last Wednesday. For many years Mr. Levinson was in the dry goods business with his brother Moses Levinson, the business was located on the Public Square. He was the son of Meyer and Theresa Levinson, and was born in New Albany, Ind. Jun. 19, 1852. His early education was acquired in Cincinnati. When twelve years old, he moved with his parents to Shelbyville. Mr. Levinson was married to Caroline Pellheimer [sic] of LaPorte Aug. 22, 1877, Mrs. Levinson died in March 1922. To this union two children were born. Mrs. William T. McLane, of this city and Myron Levinson of Flint, Michigan. [Second wife]: Mrs. Jane Wilson Nelis, [marriage date] Sept, 28, 1924, who survives. In addition to the wife and two children, he is survived by one brother, Moses Levinson of Lafayette; three sisters, Mrs. Sally Joseph and Mrs. I.A. Lewis of Indianapolis and Mrs. Moses Schultz of Lafayette; two grandchildren, David and Shirley Ann Levinson of Flint, Mich. Funeral services will be held at the home 168 W. Broadway Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Dr. Charles A. Bowler pastor of the First Presbyterian Church and a Rabbi of Indianapolis will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, in charge of Charles M. Ewing funeral director.
