He was biography (David Yale [David Lloyd] (d. 1626), civil lawyer, was probably the illegitimate son of Thomas Yale's elder brother, John Wyn, the heir of Plas-yn-Iâl. He entered Queens' College, Cambridge, as a sizar in 1555 and graduated BA in 1564. He was presented on graduation to the rectory of Llandegla in Denbighshire, and became a fellow of his college (1565ñ81). He took the degree of MA in 1567 and served as proctor of the university between 1575 and 1576. He became vicar of High Ottley in Staffordshire in 1573. His legal career appears to commence with his probable uncle's death in 1577, for he succeeded him to the Faenol prebend at St Asaph and was admitted as an advocate to the court of arches on 19 October 1579, the same year that he took the degree of LLD. He became a full member of Doctors' Commons on 3 February 1582, the year in which he was appointed a prebendary of Chester. In 1583 he was named rector of Llandyrnog in Denbighshire and, with Edmund Meyrick, jointly administered Bangor diocese in 1585 when it was vacant between the episcopates of Nicholas Robinson and Hugh Bellot. He was chancellor of Chester diocese between 1587 and 1608, and in 1599 was appointed commissioner of ecclesiastical causes for York province. David Yale was only intermittently resident in London, the Denbighshire and Cheshire borders being the focus of his activities, and he was a JP for Denbigh by 1604. He purchased considerable land from the Erddigs of Erddig in 1598, retaining Plas Grono as the family seat. He also owned land in Derbyshire. He married Frances, daughter of civil lawyer John Lloyd, and their son Thomas married the daughter of George Lloyd, bishop of Chester, their grandson being Elihu Yale, the eponymous benefactor of the American university. David Yale died in Chester in 1626, leaving chattels valued at £692, and was buried in Chester Cathedral. His wife was not mentioned in his will).

He was also known as David Lloyd.
