Colonel David Mack

David Mack, son of Elisha and Mary (Ellis) Mack, was born in Hebron, Connecticut on December 10, 1750; died at Middlefield, Massachusetts on March 24, 1845; married on April 24, 1774, Mary Talcott, b born in Hebron, Connecticut on September 21, 1757; died in Middlefield, Massachusetts on July 11, 1827. Making his first purchase of land at Middlefield, Massachusetts in 1773, he cleared two acres the next year and sowed them to wheat and built a log cabin to which he brought his wife and baby in the spring of 1775.

How he was leader in the movement to organize the town of Middlefield, Massachusetts, becoming one of its first selectmen, and its first merchant; a maker of potash, a pillar in the church and a man of considerable wealth and influence noted for his integrity and generosity, has all been told in the foregoing chapters. His long and useful life and his earnest Christian character won for him the title of "The Faithful Steward."

He was a soldier in the Revolutionary War.

John Talcott, born in Middlefield on August 23, 1781. Lived some years at the home of his grandfather, but later moved to Hinsdale and became a tavern keeper.
Elisha, born in Middlefield on May 26, 1783. Moved to Salem, Massachusetts where he was Judge of Police Court many years.
Anna, born in Middlefield on December 18, 1784, married 1st Isaac CLARK, m. 2nd Joseph EGGLESTON.
Phebe, born June 30, 1786, married Uriah CHURCH.
Zilpa, born on February 3, 1788, married Azariah SMITH.
Lucy, born in Middlefield on February 19, 1790, married Selden SPENCER.
Hannah, born on October 29, 1791, married George W. McELWAIN.
Abigail, born on June 20, 1793, married William ELDER.
Laura, born on June 4, 1795, married Solomon ROOT. She was a life long resident of Middlefield, Massachusetts.
