About David Foster Marsh

CAMERON COUNTY PRESS, EMPORIUM, PA / THURSDAY, JANUARY 25, 1912

Just as we were going to press last week, we announced the death of our old and esteemed friend, David F. Marsh at his home on Mason Hill, Wednesday, January 17, 1912, aged 84 years, eight months and 6 days. Deceased leaves a wife and five children to mourn his death, viz: Ambrose, Ralston, PA. Westley, Renova; Delbert, Jacksonville, FL; Thomas and Nellie at home.

Deceased had resided on Mason Hill for fifty years, following the occupation of farmer and lumberman. His reputation has always been above reproach and during his long residence in this county he filled every trust with fidelity. He served his country with zeal during the Civil War and greatly during the last few years from the hardships. His eyes failed him and he became almost totally blind, despite the fact that everything was done to aid him, but without avail. His funeral took place from his home Saturday noon, January 20, 1912, Rev. S. Ebersole officiating. Funeral Director C. W. Rishell had charge of the funeral.

The writer of these few lines deeply regrets his inability to be present at the "last sad rites" of our dear old friend. We sympathize with the bereaved widow and faithful daughter, who have, day in and year in, watched over the afflicted one. May Kind Providence watch over and console the afflicted family is our profound prayer.
