David Monroe Phillips

David Phillips was easy going, a story teller, good at handy work and tools. He was religious along the Methodist way. He worked in the oil fields, on a freight train as a fireman, and lived the country life with a garden, chickens and hogs. He told me once that he overslept while "working out." He wondered why his alarm clock had not awakened him. He had put in on the ledge of an open window, it being summer. A storm with wind had blown the clock out the window during his sleep. He looked out the window and could see the clock laying 2 stories below on some lumber.
