In Amsterdam wonen sinds de 18e eeuw twee families met als naam: SUSAN, SOESAN, SUESAN, SOUSAN en/of SOUSA. De afstammelingen van Salomon Davids SOUSAN, geboren circa 1690 en De afstammelingen van David Meijer SOESAN, geboren circa 1746. Op dit moment is (nog) niet aantoonbaar of, en zo ja hoe, deze twee families verwant zijn. Het is denkbaar dat er een missing link is in de persoon van een Meijer Salomon, als 3e kind van Salomon en vader van David Meijer SOESAN, maar hij is (nog ) niet gevonden. De spellingsvarianten SOESAN en SUSAN komen bij beide families frequent voor. Een enkele keer komen we SOUSAN tegen. Bij de afstammelingen van David Meijer SOESAN treedt op een gegeven moment de variant SUESAN op, hoogst waarschijnlijk veroorzaakt door een 'leesfout' van de geschreven naam SOESAN met de niet volledig gesloten letter O, die dan voor U wordt aange zien. De naam SOUSA komt uitsluitend voor binnen deze familie ( Bron: Groenewoud ) Van een contact van Ben Noach in Curacao, Michelle van Veldhoven, kregen we het volgende bericht: These two Soesan (with all the spelling variations) families De afstammelingen van Salomon Davids SOUSAN, geboren circa 1690 en De afstammelingen van David Meijer SOESAN, geboren circa 1746 are related.... I was able to put these two families toge ther from the latest information at Akevoth. David Schuschan Susan being stamvader of all Soesans.
