About David T. Voth

Obit from Messenger of Truth Issue 1, 1972:

Our beloved husband and father David T. Voth was born to Tobias and Julia Voth on March 25, 1894 at Halstead, Kansas. He departed this life on December 12, 1971 at 9:30 A.M. at his home reaching the age of 77 years 8 months and 17 days. Death was caused by a heart attack.

At the age of 22 Dad felt his lost condition and need of a Savior, upon true repentance and the experience of the new birth Dad was baptized into the Church of God in Christ Mennonite on May 28, 1916 at Montezuma, Kansas, remaining faithful until the end.

He joined hands with me, Minnie Eck in marriage on December 19, 1920 at Durham, Kansas by the late Minister John A. Koehn. We shared 51 years of life together. To this union were born 5 daughters and 3 sons. 30 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Father expressed his confidence in his Savior stating that he was ready to go home, leaving with us the full assurance that he has gone to a better place.

Prior to his death father was in the hospital for 18 days with an enlarged heart after which he spent 2 weeks at home where Mother cared for him until he passed away Sunday morning.

Father was a good provider, loving husband and very patient. He had a real concern for his family often expressing his thanks for our visits home. We know that as father longed for his children to come home often, so he will now be waiting for us to join him in his eternal home.

He leaves to mourn, me, his wife Minnie, five daughters; Edna, Mrs. Abe Giesbrecht of Glenn, Calif.; Elda, Mrs. Marvin Peaster; Mildred, Mrs. Arlo Koehn of Winton, Calif.; Erma, Mrs. Gene Koehn; and Alma, Mrs. James Koehn of Livingston, Calif. Two sons Melvin and Vernon of Winton, Calif. Two sisters: Mary, Mrs. George Giesbrecht of Brooksville, Mississippi and Minnie, Mrs. Carl Nightengale of Delhi, Calif. and one brother, Pete Voth of Winton, Calif. One son Dewey Wayne and two grandsons preceded him in death.

Funeral Services were held in the Winton church, Dec. 15, 1971. Min. John Jantz spoke from Job 14:1-14, 2 Cor. 4:16-18 and 2 Cor. 5:1.

Interment was made in the Winton Cemetery.
