About David de Mandeville

"The Mandeville estate, his farm on Manhattan Island, north of New Amsterdam, was near the foot of West Twelfth Street on the North River, it extended from below 14th street to 21st street, though not parallel to either, and from Hudson river to Warren Road. This part of Manhatten was known as Greenwich, Sappokaniken, Shappanaconk, or New Nordwyck. No lands granted or lands sold to Yellis are recorded in the Flatbush Records, but many Dutch Patents and Indian Deeds were destroyed or sent to England after 1664.

Yellis and his wife were members of the New York Dutch Church on 3rd or 31st May 1677. His residence at about 1679, was at Greenwich, Manhattan Island, New York and Yellis, Elsje, and Grietie Mandeviel were living above the ancient pond Kalch-hock in 1686. On 14th May 1700 he sold to David Mandeville, (probably his son) 126 acres including the Greenwich bowery.
