About Dawn & Desmond Fitz-Gerald : In 1961, Brenda & I visited Dawn for lunch, and I wrote home to my family on 27th December 1961: On Thursday, the fog in London was very thick indeed but we set out in Brenda's car---Beryl stayed behind as fog aggravates sinus trouble. Dawn has a very interesting house, very old, huge old fireplace which you can walk into, bearing a date in the early seventeenth century, lovely large garden. Near the front door there is a room devoted to electric trains, which I believe is Nicholas' great interest. . Desmond is Irish and works for ICI and is a very charming & amusing person; I found him quite the most amusing of all my new acquaintances in Beryl's branch of the family. Brenda insisted on setting forth again at 2.30 before the fog became too thick.--- The photograph was taken by Yolande Friend's betrothed Mike de Belleroche in 1946. It shows Dawn Clarence on the couch next to Edward Wilfrid Townsend & her sister Sybil Diana Clarence is on his left. Behind Diana is her mother Elizabeth Beryl Clarence & on the opposite side perched on the arm of the couch is Brenda C Souter. Standing behind the couch is Audrey Yolande Friend (1907-1977)
