About Deacon Jonathan Belding
Son of John Belden and Lydia Standish. Husband of Mary Wright
In 1695, Jonathan was elected a selectman (one of the officers of the town board to transact public business). He was active in town affairs and later was a deputy or representative for Wethersfield at the General Assemblies of the Colony, serving several years. In 1710, was a Lieutenant in Wethersfield Militia under Colonel Whiting and took part in the "reduction" and capture Port Royal, Nova Scotia.
