Delane is the son of Thomas E. and Margaret Casto Cunningham. Both died in Madison, KS but graves are lost.

D.H. Cunningham, born 24 March 1850 near Charleston, W. Va. Died October 15, 1914 Madison, Kansas. Moved with his parents when a boy to Missouri, and from there to Nebraska near Lincoln, coming to Toronto, Kansas, he ran a wagon repair shop until 1895. Worked at the carpenter trade in and around Madison until 1911. Married October 25, 1878 to Mrs. Nancy Irwin Thornton at Madison, Kansas. Nine children were born. His wife and seven children survive him. Mrs. Ella Chabmline, of Osage, Okla; Mrs. Jay Bohard, Mrs. Roy Groat; Mrs. Ike Bohard, Mrs. Frank Elrod, Mrs. Clarence Groat and H. Cunningham all of Madison. Lancey and Eddie died in infancy.
