Delbert H. Nicholson, 83, of Parkersburg died Tuesday July 29, 2008 at his residence. He was born in Miletus, WV a son of the late Alvin S. and Edna Mae (Sperry) Nicholson.
He was a principal and school teacher for Belpre Schools for many years. He was a member of Pioneer Presbyterian Church. He was also a United States Army veteran having served in WW II as a expert tank driver. He enjoyed gardening and sharing the fruits of his labor with his neighbors.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years Jean (Tucker) Nicholson; son David Nicholson (Cheryl) of Jane Lew, WV; daughter Kristi Nicholson of Belpre, OH; two grandsons Cory and Quintin Nicholson; a sister Clara Nicholson Hurst; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister Eleen Faye Nicholson, brother Alvin L. Nicholson, infant sister Gwendolyn Nicholson, and niece Carolyn Nicholson.
Services will be Friday 11:00 AM at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Reverend Will Neff officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens with military honors by American Legion Post 15. Visitation will be Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
