Delores M. Hopper, 81, of Sullivan, died 12:09 p.m. Thursday (November 28, 2013) in the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon.
Celebration of Life services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan with Pastor Eddie Miller officiating. Burial will be in the French Cemetery, Allenville. Visitation will be from 4 - 6 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. The family requests casual attire. Memorials are suggested to the Allenville Christian Church. Mrs. Hopper was born August 19, 1932 in Sullivan, IL, the daughter of Charles Francis and Bernice Pifer Waggoner. Delores was a homemaker and helped on the family farm. She was a 4-H leader for over 27 years, was a member of the Allenville Christian Church, she handcrafted quilts at the Sullivan Senior Center and the Allenville Christian Church to be given to children and she made many trips over the past 40 years to take aid to the residents of Appalachia. Delores married Lee Hopper on July 2, 1950 in Bethany and he survives.
Other survivors include her children, Gail (Joe) Scribner of Sullivan, Carol (Bill) Hill of Diamondhead, Miss., David (Christy) Hopper of Allenville; eleven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; brother, Leon (Beverly) Waggoner of Gays; sisters, Lila (Harold) Zimmerman of Weatherby, Missouri, and Linda Bushert of Sullivan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother-in-law, Craig Bushert and a sister-in-law, Theresa Waggoner.
