About Demetrio Medel Robles
Demetrio was one of 6 (or 10?) children of Jose and Patricia. He worked as a carpenter making furniture. He met josefina before ww2 started. When the Japanese came he wore an armband that got him through the military checkpoints.
The family lived in the furniture store, their 9 children lived in a single bedroom. They were poor. Papa told me he had too eat only rice with a viand of spices for 6 months straight.
As demetrio was in the final year of his life he wrote to President Marcos saying it was his dying wish to meet him. His request was granted and he was flown to manila with an armed gaurd and given a hotel to stay in plus 150,000 pesos cash by the president.
He passed away aged 66
