Biography

Dempsey Barnes was born about 1744 in the Bertie Precinct of Northampton County, North Carolina, and died between May 28, 1807 and and 25 August 1807, when his Will was proved. He was the son of Joseph Barnes and Elizabeth Whitley.

He married Sarah on 11 April 1767. She was born about 1744. Perhaps she was the daughter of John Dew, III & Elizabeth ‘Eleanor’ Dew, but evidence is needed.
