A Boomer's Tale:

My Elementary, Junior HIgh, and High School years were typical Mid-Western, playing football, in the band, and doing all the right things for the right grades while the Viet Nam war simmered in the background, and in every young man's mind.

Graduation came in the tumultuous year of 1968, meaning the assassinations of Martin Luther King Jr., Robert Kennedy, the Tet offensive, and of course the "Summer of Love" in San Fransisco. During this time I attended Bowling Green State University and Toledo University, grew my hair long, played folk music, studied Sociology and Anthropology, and experienced better living through chemistry (hey, it was the 60's). In 1972, when almost finished with my degree, I drew the unfortunate number of 32 in the Country's first Draft Lotto (amazing how these things stick in the mind). Facing the inevitable draft into the Army, I opted for enlisting in the Air Force, married Marilyn Sesney, and away we went.

After leaving the quiet life of East Toledo and the nearby countryside of Wood County my life became an example of "Brownian Motion", bouncing from one location to another. From Denver Colorado to Belleville Illinois to Columbus Ohio (where I received my BSEE from Ohio State) to San Antonio Texas back to Denver (where I received my JD from the University of Denver College of Law), to Lexington Massachusetts, Dayton Ohio, Ankara Turkey, and San Bernadino California, all while in the USAF. Upon leaving Active Duty I accepted a position at Harris Corporation, moved to Melbourne Florida, then Brussels Belgium (during which time Marilyn and I were separated and divorced and I married Suzanne House), and back to Melbourne. While at Harris I also spent a lot of time in Washington D.C. and Southern California, Tokyo Japan, Europe, and even some time in Melbourne and Sydney Australia. Upon leaving Harris Suzanne and I settled in Tampa Florida and I became a Partner in a large Law Firm. Now I run a solo Law Practice helping small companies and entrepreneurs with their Intellectual Property and Contract issues on what seems like mostly a Pro Bono basis.

Over the years I've taught seminars, undergraduate, and graduate courses in Business Law, Government Contract Law, and Intellectual Property Law at numerous colleges and may some day leave the practice of Law and settle into the academic life.

I never had any children, which now seems strange when looking at the family tree with all my ancestors and no descendants, but Suzanne has blessed me with two intelligent, creative and caring step-sons, Abe and Adam, and I've enjoyed watching and helping them grow into young men. Although I can't take credit for the nature I do take some credit for the nurture of what they've become.
