About Derrick Albertson
Derick Albertson, son of Nicholas Albertson, was born in 1637 at Scituate, Plymouth, Massachusetts. He died in 1684.
"In 1672, Derick Albertson built a mill near Delaware River, half of which was claimed by William Toms." Derick married a woman whose surname was Wilmett.[1] There were Willetts in Nassau about that time, so it could be a version of that.
From notes for the Albertson Family, taken from Long Island Genealogies compiled by Mary Powell Bunker.
William 1 Albertson was at Flatlands, LI, in 1643. In 1655 Albert Albertson was on the records as living at the west end of the island. Eva Albertson m. 1657 Roeleff Swartwout. In 1682, William 1 Albertson located a tract of land at Newtown Township, New Jersey. Shortly after he gave the land to his son William, and removed to Byberry, Pennsylvania. In 1672, Derick Albertson built a mill near the Delaware River, half of which was claimed by William Toms. In 1691 William bought a tract in Gloucester County for his son William, who married, in 1695, Esther Willis, daughter of Henry and Mary Willis, at Westbury.
(as written in Bunker's notes): We have this of 1696. WILLMETT (now wife of Jauram Roots) formerly m. Albertson, and had children:
She now lists the descendants, but no first name for FATHER Albertson.
From the records of the DRC at New Amsterdam:
Albert Albertszen, father, 12 June 1650; Heyltje; sponsors: Aert Willemszen and wife. 13 August 1651, Albert Albertszen; Albert; sponsors: Wolfert gerritszen van Couwenhoven and Grietie Van Nes. 3 March 1653, Albert Albertszen; Annetje; sponsors: Willem gerritsz, Hadders, Tryn. 4 May 1653, Elbert Elbertszen; (no name given); sponsors: Hester Jans; Hester Simons.
I don't know if the individual on this Family Page should be William or Albert or Derrick.
I've since read his name could possibly be Nicholas Albertson; according to this site, Nicholas was this man's father. (I also read in one of my other papers that Albertson was called the Norwegian or the Swede.)
