GRINNELL WOMAN DEAD.
Mrs. Elisha Hammer Succumbs to
Paralysis at Soldiers' Home. Diana D. Hammer, wife of Elisha Hammer, a Grinnell member of the soldiers' home, died Thursday evening at 6:45 at the home hospital of paralysis, from which she had suffered ever since coming to the home Sept. 9, 1915. Mr. Hammer is a member of the home. Mrs. Hammer was born in Knox county, Tennessee, March 10, 1842. Her husband served in Company K, Twenty-eighth Iowa infantry. Besides her husband Mrs. Hammer leaves one daughter, Mrs. Laura Sage, of Grinnell.
The body will be taken Saturday morning to Grinnell for burial.

Grinnell. Oct. 21. - The body of Mrs. Elisha Hammer, who died at the soldiers' home in Marshalltown on Thursday, was brought to Grinnell this morning and funeral services were held at the Friends church, conducted by pastor Joseph Sopher, with interment in Hazelwood cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Hammer have long been residents of Grinnell but went to the soldiers home several months ago because of the complete helplessness of Mrs. Hammer. The pallbearers were selected by Mr. Hammer from among his comrades of the G.A.R. in this city.
Note: The daughter mentioned in the first article, Laura Sage, was Diana's stepdaughter, daughter of Elisha's previous wife Emma Mills Hammer.
