About Dines Hansen
https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LYZ9-G1M
ORIGIN OF THE DENNISON LAST NAME
Dines Hansen's children were given last names that were based on his first name. So his daughter Karen was Karen Dinesdatter (i.e. Karen, Dines's daughter), and his three sons Hans, Jorgen and Nels/Niels were given the last name Dinesen (i.e. Dines's son).
This is the origin of the last name Dinesen, which was variously spelled Dennison, Denison, and Denneson (as well as a wide variety of misspellings in census records, etc.) by various members of the family who immigrated to the U.S.
There are also unrelated families with the same name Dennison, who presumably got their last names from a different Dines or Dennis at some point in the past.
