Dolf (65), owner of a security company, was stabbed at least 21 times, while he was in his bed with his wife Lynette (65), at his home in Hendrick Verwoerd Drive, Witbank, MP, on 1st November 2013.
Dolf was wheelchair bound after his leg was amputed. The attackers held Lynette and forced her to watch her husband being stabbed.
The killers had gained entry by breaking down the back door, and then the security gate in the corridor to the bedroom area. They also allegedly tried to cut Lynette's wrist when she did not want to tell them if there was money in the house.
The safe was broken open, but it was empty. The perpetrators stole two cellphones and R3 000, and fled in a red Volkswagen pick-up truck.
According to Piet Cromhout of CSC Tactical, they received a panic signal from the Botha house at around 03h00. Capt. Police spokesman Eddie Hall is investigating the possibility of his murder being killed for revenge. Dolf owned a security company, Golden Hands, that provides guard services.
