About Donald Kenneth Davan
Donald K. Davan, 66, a longtime Ayer resident and former highway foreman for the town, died unexpectedly Saturday, July 20, 2002 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland after being stricken ill while vacationing in the area. He was the husband of Nancy B. (Phelps) Davan, to whom he was married for 45 years. He was born in Ayer on March 2, 1936, a son of Festus and Leah (Wheeler) Davan.
Mr. Davan worked on the Ayer Department of Public Works for 31 years. He was highway foreman for the last 25 years of his DPW career, retiring in 1995.
Mr. Davan was a member of the Ayer Gun and Sportsman's Club, the Nashoba Apple Corps Camping Group, and the FCRV NCHA Massachusetts State Association.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Kenneth C. Davan of Fitchburg, Ronald W. Davan of Templeton and Michael R. Davan of Ayer; three daughters, Brenda M. Smith of Westminster, Bonnie J. Holleran of Shirley and Marjorie J. Davan of Ayer; three sisters, Lorraine Dumas and Jean Stevens, both of Ayer, and Mary L. Gilbert, residing in North Carolina; also 13 grandchildren.
He was also the brother of the late Bernard Davin, Richard Davan, Norman Davin, Leo Davan, Paul Davan, and Robert Davan.
