Donald T. Geier, 55, of Newton passed away at 10:39 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2015, in Ste. Marie.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin. Burial will be in Holy Cross Church Cemetery, Wendelin. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the church and one hour prior to the service. In loving memory of Don, memorials may be made to the children of Don Geier. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton. The obituary can be viewed and condolences left at www.meyerfh.com.

Don was born on Aug. 1, 1959, in Olney, the son of Franklin and Geneva (Rauch) Geier. He attended Newton Community High School graduating in the Class of 1977. For a short time he helped operate the family farm. Don also worked in the oil field before founding his own business Geier Oil, Inc. becoming the owner and operator. Don was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Sons of the American Legion and the Illinois Oil and Gas Association.

Don was a well-known and loved community member. He took pride in taking his only grandchild, Easton, out to check oil wells. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Don loved watching his kids play sports. Some of his favorite past times were playing cards, camping and watching NASCAR. Don will be greatly missed as his family endures the pain of his loss.

Don will be loved and remembered by his three beautiful children, Jacob, wife Kelcie (Lewis) Geier and grandson Easton Geier of Hidalgo, Illinois; Haley Geier of Newton, and Lucas Geier of Newton. He is also survived by 11 siblings, Dean (Karen) Geier of Newton, Teresa Geier (Rich Guild) of Madison, Wisconsin, Frank (Laura) Geier of Newton, Ronald (Kara) Geier of Newton, John (JoBeth) Geier of Newton, Bill (Denise) Geier of Newton, Joyce (Scott) Reis of Ste. Marie, Susan (Brian) Atwood of Noble, Marcia (Shad) Street of Newton, Robin (Adam) Deckard of Newton, and Kristy Geier of Villa Grove. Don has 26 nieces and nephews and one great-niece, all from the Geier family.

Don was preceded in death by his infant son, Clayton Thomas Geier; infant sister, Mary Jane Geier; and both sets of grandparents.
