About Donald Lee Hertel
Donald Lee "Donnie" Hertel, 62, Hays, died Thursday, July 7, 2011, at Hays Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 23, 1948, in Hays to John and Clementine (Fross) Hertel.
He worked in the food service department at Hays Medical Center. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.
Survivors include two nieces, Sharon Smythe, Salina and Sheila Schmidt, San Antonio; a nephew, Rick Schmidt, Salina; several cousins and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ronald, and one sister, Mary Schmidt.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Hays. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and 1 to 1:30 p.m. Monday at Brock's North Hill Chapel, Hays. A parish wake service will be at 7 p.m. today.
Memorials are suggested to the Dreiling-Schmidt Cancer Center.
