Birth: Oct. 11, 1862 Salt Lake City Salt Lake County Utah, USA
Death: Nov. 25, 1863 Salt Lake City Salt Lake County Utah, USA
Donald was the first born of Archibald McKinnon, Sr., and his first wife, Mary McKay McKinnon. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on 11 October 1862, but he was soon called back to his Heavenly home, on 25 November 1863. He lived 1-year and just over 1-month. He was buried in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
In May of 1871, Brigham Young counseled with Archibald McKinnon, Sr., and extended a call to him and his family to help settle Randolph, Utah. Archibald, and his wife, Mary McKay, and their four living sons, Robert, Archibald, Peter, and Malcolm made the journey. On 29 September 1871, my grandfather, Randolph Stewart McKinnon, joined them there, by being born on 29 September 1871. He was the third child and second male child born in Randolph.
I have no doubt that Donald watched with love and familial pride as his parents and siblings, indeed the entire Archibald McKinnon family, became very important to the development and strength of that rugged pioneer town. How joyous must have been the reunions Donald had with each of them, when it was time.
Special Thanks to Susan McKinney Raymond, for finding and providing the picture of Donald's grave marker shown at the right.
