About Donald Charles Potvin

Donald C. Potvin, 74, of Curtis, Michigan, was a Korean War veteran who owned and operated Don's Barber Shop in Marquette for 31 years. He died Sunday morning, May 8, 2005, at his home on South Manistique Lake.
Donald Potvin was born February 6, 1931, in Iron Mountain, to Douglas Potvin and Alda Potvin.
He was a 1949 graduate of Graveraet High School in Marquette. Following graduation, he entered the United States Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge April 13, 1953.
Mr. Potvin returned to Marquette, where he entered the masonry trade and later owned and operated Don's Barber Shop in Marquette for 31 years until his retirement in 1993. He has been a resident of Curtis for the past eight years and had spent the past four winters in Florida. He was a member of St. Timothy's Catholic Church of Curtis and was a life member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge 405 and American Legion Post 44, both of Marquette. He enjoyed fishing, playing cribbage, and bowling.
Survivors included his wife, the former Victoria Machowski of Curtis, whom he married in August 1981 in Marquette; a daughter and her family, Patricia and Steven Bozek of Scottsdale, Arizona; a son and his family, Robert and Jeanne Potvin of Richfield, Wisconsin; a stepdaughter and her family, Suzanne Mattson and Chad Broadus of Ridgefield, Washington; two grandchildren, Jacob and Benjamin Potvin; two step-grandchildren, Zoe and Xander Mattson-Broadus, and two siblings, Fred and Rita Potvin of Marquette and Karen and Jack Dooley of Curtis.
