Donald Arthur Vidler

Met his wife Joan while working at separate retail outlets in Manly, Joan was 17 and Don 19 when they married in 1949, Robyn born in 1950, Julie 1952 and Diane in 1953, Married for 62 years. Don was proprietor of Plateau Hardware at Collaroy Plateau from 1960 to 1967, we lived at Beacon Hill, Manly Vale, Collaroy Plateau, Narrabeen and Fairlight before moving to Coffs Harbour briefly, then settlinng in the Gosford and Wyong areas in retirement years. Don was indoor bowls champion at Harbord Diggers in the 60s and loved the sport. He was a capable carpentry and handyman until his fall from a roof while building at the age of about 60 which forced him to slow down. He loved to write and wrote many rivetting and exciting novels, always to do with wartime, but hang off the edge of your seat stuff--unfortunately none were accepted for publication, but will live on with the family.
