About Donna Jean Boyle

Donna Heitman Boyle April 17, 1937-Octobter 3, 2014 Donna Heitman Boyle passed away from ovarian cancer on October 3, 2014. Donna was born April 17, 1937, to Odessa and Lyle Bennett in Olympia, Wash. She grew up in Seattle with her three sisters, Mary, Carol and Janet. She attended Ballard High School.

Donna married Erwin Heitman on August 22, 1952, and raised three children, Greg, Marsha and Cheryl. She worked for Grandma Cookie Company, Cochran Electric and Salinas Construction before she retired. She enjoyed sewing, camping, friends and Sunday dinners with her family. Donna and Erwin were married 44 years, living in Seattle and then in Everett until Erwin's passing in 1996.

Donna met and then married Frank Boyle on August 9, 1997, and moved to Yakima. She was welcomed and loved by his family and his many friends. They took many trips together, but some favorites were when they took their children on a cruise through the French Polynesia in 2006 and a riverboat cruise through Germany in 2009. These trips truly made us all family. Medjugorje was a spiritual trip they took in 2012 with members from their church and their priest.

Donna was a women with great faith and she loved Holy Family Catholic Church where she served proudly as a Eucharistic Minister, was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, St. Paula's Guild, and the funeral committee. She made many friends from her church. She loved to knit and crochet, but her passion was making quilts, which her family and friends have had the honor to receive from her and will treasure dearly.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Erwin Heitman; her parents; sister, Carol; and her dear friend, Sandy Brown. She is survived by her husband, Frank Boyle of 17 years; children, Greg (Susan) Heitman, Marsha (Rusty) Blevins, Cheryl (Gary) Kestle, Jeff (Anola) Boyle and Brad (Dorene) Boyle; grandchildren, Travis, Garett, Jacob, Amy, Stephanie, George, Justin, Kristin, Adam, Jessica, Alec, Jenna and Taylor and 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Mary and Janet and too many family and friends to mention by name.

Donations in Donna's honor may be made to: Hospice of Yakima, or the Catholic Daughters of Yakima, in care of Brookside Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1267, Moxee, WA. 98936. Vigil Service will be 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church Chapel, Yakima. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery in Snohomish, WA. Arrangements by Brookside Funeral Home & Crematory.
