Dora Armstrong Beauchamp, 85, died March 16, 2009.

Dora was born in Gaston County, on May 2, 1923, the daughter of the late Robert Lee Armstrong Sr. & Avie Price. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James Clayton "J.C." Beauchamp. Dora was one of nine children having four sisters and four brothers; Robert, Joe, Mack and Paul Armstrong, all of her brothers preceded her in death.

She was a lifelong and faithful member of Faith United Methodist Church in Gastonia. She was active in the Women's Missions Program of the church. She Many of her friends and acquaintances referred to as the "pecan lady" be due to her support of the Missions annual pecan sale. Not only did she delivered the pecans but her home was also a pick up location.

Dora's working life, in addition to being a home maker and mother, was spent at Groves Threads and Threads, Inc. where she worked until retirement. Not one to be inactive she worked for nearly 20 years at the snack bar in Walmart. This was a perfect fit for her out going personality. One of her greatest joys was dining out with her sisters, Dot, Frances and Elizabeth, which she called the "golden girls."

Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Beauchamp; son Jim (Nancy) Beauchamp, of Gastonia; granddaughter Sharon (Tim) Melton of Dallas; grandsons, Jeff Beauchamp (Melissa) of Ft. Mill, SC, and Eric McNeely of Laurinburg; great-grandsons Tradd Beauchamp, Luke Beauchamp, Trent Adair, Josh McNeely and David McNeelly; great-great granddaughters, Phoenix and Savannah Adair. Additionally surviving are her sisters, Dot Powell, Frances Coleman, Elizabeth (Fred( Kerr , of Gastonia, and Helen Jensen of Daytona Beach, FL; sisters-in-law Glenda Armstrong of Gastonia, Elise Armstrong of Florida, Waverlene Armstrong of Alabama and numerous nieces and nephews.
