Dora Hargis

Miss Dora Hargis is the daughter of Benjamin F. Hargis and Alice (Johnson) Hargis. She is the granddaughter of Samuel T. Hargis and Mary Lucinda (Sharp) Hargis, and Hugh L. Johnson and Mary A. (Caldwell) Johnson. Dora was born 26 Oct 1896 per her death certificate, but she was age 2 and born Feb 1898 per the 19 Jun 1900 Census (Shoal Creek, Cherokee, NC). 26 Oct 1897 is per her grave marker. Dora’s siblings include: Flossie Hargis, Bessie (Hargis) Houser, Dave Hargis, Grace Lucille (Hargis) Toomey-Sharp, Frank Bazcon Hargis and Maurice Hargis.

In 1940, Dora was living in Monroe County, TN (Old Madisonville - Niles Ferry Pike) with her mother Alice. Next to them was Dora’s brother Frank Hargis.
