Doris Elaine Magnuson, 74, of Glenwood, died Monday, Oct. 13, at the Lakeview Good Samaritan Center in Glenwood.
Funeral services were held on Friday, October 17, at the Glenwood Lutheran Church with the Rev. Lewis officiating. Interment was at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
The daughter of Carl and Sadle* (Westover) Hesse, she was born on Feb. 16, 1929, in Sauk Centre. She grew up in Sauk Centre and attended public schools there. In 1956 she moved to the Twin Cities where she met Douglas C. Magnuson. They made their home in St. Paul where they raised their family. She was a long time member of the Rice Street VFW Auxiliary. She was known as an avid baker who enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and solitaire. Shortly after Douglas died in 1996 she moved to the Ridgewood Villa in Glenwood. She had been a resident at the Lakeview Good Samaritan for the past four years.
She is survived by her daughter, Kin and Rocky Miller of Glenwood, one son, Chuck and Virginia of Olathe, Kansas; four grandchildren, Bonnie and Sarah Miller and Josh and Zach Magnuson; three sisters, Esther Long of Evereff*, Wash., Lola Berg of Sauk Centre and Betty and Joe Thielen of Big Lake; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; five brothers, Donald, Lynn, James, Charles, and Jack; and two sisters, Pearl Miller and Gladys Gates.
