1926 to 1940 various temporary and supply posts in the Birmingham area, in primary and secondary schools (including a spell at a girls' remand home)
1940 to 1943. Taught at Pipewood Camp School.at Blithbury,a hamlet in Staffordshire. Girls here were mainly evacuees from the bombing in Birmingham.
1953 went to South Africa via Union Castle Line to train teachers there.
1955 to 1961: Lecturer in Education at the Philippa Fawcett College of Education.
For many years after retirement,Elizabeth organised the annual reunion of the ex pupils of Pipewood Camp School,usually at a hotel in Birmingham. Along with the school she featured in a TV documentary about Pipewood showing life here in the War years. Until her death she was in regular touch with her "girls" (well into their 60s) and received signed cards and flowers when she was unable to travel.
Elizabeth spent her last two years at Bryher Court Nursing Home,Filsham Road,
St Leonards on Sea,East Sussex.
