About Doris Wagner

Life Legacy

Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Doris Tobler Wagner, 91, died Sunday, April 11, 2010 in St. George, Utah. She was born November 14, 1918 in Mesquite, Nevada. Doris was the daughter of John Alfred and Delma Knight Tobler. She was the eighth child in a close-knit family of ten. Her younger growing up days were spent in Mesquite, Nevada. She graduated from Virgin Valley High School in 1937. Doris married Marvin Richard Wagner on December 9, 1940 in Las Vegas, Nevada and their marriage was solemnized in the L.D.S. Temple in St. George, Utah June 10, 1947. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a faithful and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in many church positions including Relief Society, Primary, and Young Women's president and was a visiting teacher. She and her husband served a mission for the L.D.S. Church from 1983-1984 in the Winnemucca, Nevada area. In 1947, Doris and Marvin went into the hardware business. They were partners in the Nelson-Wagner Hardware store and later became the sole owners and operators. Doris was the bookkeeper for many years. She had many interests, but her love and devotion were for her husband, family, church, and genealogy work. She is survived by one son, Richard (and wife Carlene) Wagner, of Lovelock, Nevada; three daughters, Katherine (and husband Dennis) Peterson, of St. George, Utah, Arlene (and husband Robert Hoferer) of Hawthorne, Nevada, Carol (and husband Denton) Gubler of Lund, Nevada. Doris has a great posterity remaining who love and honor her-20 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and all her siblings and husband. Doris had been a resident of a Beehive Home in St. George, Utah for 4 ½ years. The family expresses great appreciation to the owner and all the loving caregivers as it was a real "home" for our mother. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the Hawthorne Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
