14 September 1581-83: Letter signed Pittyncrieff addressed to the Erll off Gowre greit thesaurer asking for the loan of £20 for 15 days. Dated 14 Sep. [no year]. [Gowrie was created Earl 23 Aug. 1581; beheaded 4 May 1584. John Wemyss of Pittencrieff married the Earl's dau. Dorothea before 8 June 1609].
