Dorothy Colby

Parents: daughter and heiress of Thomas Colby of Sherfield on Loddon, Hants by Elizabeth, daughter and coheiress of Edward Gilbert, Alderman of London.

Married:

1. John Tamworth of 'Halstead, Lincs' (d.1593/4)
2. in 1595 to Sir Francis Willoughby, Knt of Wollaton and himself widower of Elizabeth Lyttleton of Frankley. He died in 1596.
3. Philip, 3rd baron Wharton as his second wife

Notes

In his anxiety to leave a male heir, Sir Francis married again (1595), late in life, a certain Dorothy (nee Coleby), widow of John Tamworth, "who made her advantage of the declining time of her husband and his great estate, if we may believe report." (Thoroton, p. 223).
