About Dorothy Louise O'Connor

O'CONNOR, DOROTHY - Dorothy Louise Campbell O'Connor found peace after a long illness on Sunday, November 30, 2008. She was 91. Dorothy was born in Wilmington, NC in 1917, to Robert Falconer Campbell and Elizabeth Keating Campbell. The family relocated to Oklahoma City, OK in the 1920s. She attended the Madeira School in McLean, VA, and Our Lady of the Lake College, San Antonio, TX. She was a graduate of Sweet Briar College, Sweet Briar, Virginia, Class of 1940. She was attending the School of Social Work at Columbia University, New York when she married. Her wedding to Captain William P. O'Connor Jr. was at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City in 1945. Together they raised three children in Larchmont, New York. Dorothy is survived by her devoted husband Bill, children William (Bill) P. O'Connor III of Rutland, VT, Diane (Carol Leudesdorf) O'Connor of NYC, Deb O'Connor-Callahan (Sean Callahan) of Milwaukee, WI, and grandchildren Meighan, Peter, and Chelsea Callahan and Timothy and Robert O'Connor. Preceded in death by her brother Robert, sisters Elizabeth (Bunny) Morrison (Leo) and Audrey Hagmann (Guilford), and by most of her 40 first cousins. Dorothy enjoyed fundraising for the Sweet Briar College Alumni Association, knitting, playing bridge, swimming, and raising orchids. She was a member of the Larchmont Yacht Club and the Junior League of Larchmont. A family funeral will be held at St. Augustine's Church, Larchmont on Saturday, December 13th, at 10 a.m. Visitation prior to Mass at 9 a.m. at Fox Funeral Home. The family wishes to thank the staff at The Osborn Pavilion in Rye, NY and Westchester Hospice and Palliative Care for their kind attention. With sincere gratitude, the family wishes to acknowledge the dedicated care and friendship given over a quarter century to Dorothy by M. Barbara Thomas. "Stock analyst and author William P. O’Connor Jr. found peace after a stroke and long illness on February 16. He was 92. Born in NYC to William Sr. and Katherine (nee Callan). Alumni of Portsmouth Priory in R.I., Harvard College ‘38, and Harvard Business School. Lifelong member of St. Augustine’s Church and the Larchmont Yacht Club, and long time Bonnie Briar Country Club member.

As an Army Captain in WWII, he earned the Silver Star on Leyte and a Purple Heart on Okinawa. CEO of 14 Research Corporation, author of “Techniques for Maximum Market Profits” and “The 14 Point Method to Beat the Market.” Member of New York Stock Exchange.

Devoted husband of to the late Dorothy (nee Campbell), loving father to William P. O’Connor III of Rutland, VT, Diane (Carol Leudesdorf) O’Connor of NYC, Deb O’Connor-Callahan (Sean Callahan) of Milwaukee, WI, and caring grandpa to Meighan, Peter and Chelsea Callahan and Timothy and Robert O’Connor. Loyal business partner to Ira Hersch.

Bill will be dearly missed by all who enjoyed his friendly and knowledgeable conversation, admired his motivation and enthusiasm for life, and his strong family leadership.

Visitation will be held at the John J. Fox Funeral Home on the Boston Post Road in Larchmont, NY from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Friday, February 20. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Augustine’s Church on Larchmont Avenue in Larchmont, NY at 10 AM on Saturday, February 21. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven in Hawthorne, NY."
