Douglas Pierce (1975 - 2014)
Brief overview:
Douglas (39), was riding his motorbike, and was shot dead in a road rage incident on Malibongwe Drive, Randburg, on 17th February 2014, by motorist, Meekahefele Mosooa, a lawyer labour consultant. He was charged with the murder, and released on R5000 bail.
After five years of delays, court appearances, jury members visiting the scene of the crime, forensic specialist testimony, Mosooa was acquitted in July 2019.
Douglas's mother, Mary Anne, appealed to the National Prosecuting Authority to make sure the pain endured by the families of crime victims doesn’t drag on for years.
