Brief overview:

Douw (50), from the farm Goedgedacht in the Dwaalboom area, Limpopo, who farmed cattle and game, was shot in the back of the house around 22h00 on 11th October 2011. His bloody body lay on the lawn in front of his house for at least eight hours.

Workers heard his vehicle, then heard a loud bang. Brummer climbed out of the truck and was about to walk across the lawn to the house when he was shot in the back of his head. The attackers took his keys and unlocked the house, and unlocked the safe and took weapons. Brummer's cell phone was also stolen.

Lieutenant Colonel. Provincial police spokesperson Ronel Otto said Brummer workers only found his body on about 6:00 on Wednesday.

Mr. Holden-Smith of a private trackers company said many of the suspects' footprints around the house were no longer clearly visible. He and a group of trackers from the area co-operated with the police around the farmhouse. TAU SA North security officer Pieter Roets in the area, said the murderers seemed to have been waiting for Brummer. Roets said there had been a break-in to Brummer twice before.

  • Four men accused of murdering Brummer were arrested on Wednesday 2nd November 2012 in Rustenburg.
  • A fifth suspect was apprehended on Northam the same day. According to Col. Ronel Otto, police spokesperson for Limpopo, a firearm was also recovered.
