About Dr Fain
On 3 September the Germans carried out their first 'action' against the Jews of Dubossary, a town on the banks of the River Dniester.
They had tried and failed to find a Jew willing to serve on the Jewish Council. None agreed to do so. Three Barenboim brothers were killed at a public hanging in the centre of the town. Three others were also hanged for this same crime, Dr Fain, Peisakh Glimberg and Sara Shkolnik.
They died 3 September 1941.
