Imprisoned at Nováky Labour Camp, which was liberated in August 1944 during the Slovak National Uprising. Then murdered in the mass shooting in the forest at Kremnicka in November 1944.

Rudolf, Gertrude, and Anna Lowenbein were imprisoned in Banská Bystrica on November 15, 1944. They were then escorted from the prison on November 20, 1944, and executed in the forest near the village of Kremnička that day. The bodies were exhumed on April 1945 and identified. Rudolf had an ID, his wife Gertrude and daughter Anna were identified by Rudolf's younger brother Emil Lowenbein.
