Obituary Condolences
MANITO - Duane B. "Coonie" Golden, 72, of 301 S. Park Ave., Manito, died at 3:15 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 4, 1935, in Springlake Township, Manito, to Nelson and Loma Bailey Golden. He married Eloise Whitaker on Aug. 14, 1955, in Topeka, and she survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Christina (Tim Walker) Golden of Green Valley; three sons, Anthony (Cynthia) Golden of Caro, Mich., Timothy Golden of Pekin and David Golden of Manito. He has 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one sister, Loma Alice Burks, also survives.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
He was a plasterer for Dan Woiwode Plastering in Forest City for 50 years, retiring in 2005.
He was a member of the Plasterers and Cement Masons Local 18 and for the last six years he served as a trustee for the Manito Township.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church Sand Prairie Green Valley, where services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31. The Rev. Thomas Wenndt will officiate. Visitation will be Friday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment will be in Meadow Lawn Cemetery, Manito.
Memorials may be made to the St. John's Lutheran Church in Green Valley or to the American Diabetes Association.
