Actor. He was best known to British television viewers as 'Tinker Dill' on the mystery series "Lovejoy" from 1986 to 1994. He served in the Royal Air Force as a mechanic before enrolling in the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, from which he was later expelled. He later joined theatre director Joan Littlewood’s Theatre Workshop group and appeared in numerous plays that portrayed working class life during the 1950s and 1960s. In 1958, he appeared in the film "A Night to Remember". He went on to appear in other films such as "The Leather Boys" (1964), "The Devils" (1971), "The Pink Panther Strikes Again" (1976) "The Football Factory" (2004), and "Cockneys vs Zombies" (2012). He made his television debut in 1960 on the television series "Skyport." Besides "Lovejoy," he also appeared in such television series as "Coronation Street," "The Avengers," "Z Cars," "Dempsey and Makepeace," "EastEnders," "Emmerdale," and "Doctors." He passed away after being diagnosed with cancer.
