- 10/09/2009: Ndawonde’s attorney, Kelvin Singh, yesterday urged Judge Jappie to impose a less severe sentence than life imprisonment on Ndawonde, who was only 19 years old at the time of the murder and robbery. He submitted that there is a good chance that Ndawonde can be rehabilitated. State advocate Pretty-Girl Ngcobo argued, however, that because Ndawonde did not admit any wrongdoing, the prospects for his rehabilitation are not good. She urged the court to impose the prescribed minimum sentence of life imprisonment.
