About Earl Y. Stauffer

Lancaster Newspaper, unknown date: Earl Young Stauffer, sixty four, 983 Lincoln Heights Ave., Ephrata, died at 2:45 p.m. Sunday at the Ephrata Community Hospital after an illness of seven months.

Stauffer, a well known civic leader in the community, was president of the Earl Y. Stauffer & Sons, Inc., electrical contractors, 325 S. Reading Road, Ephrata. He was formerly employed in the electrical department of the Armstrong Cork Co. for 20 years.

Born at Millport, Warwick Twp., he was a son of the late Walter S. and Emma Young Stauffer, and resided in the Rothsville-Ephrata area his entire lifetime.

In addition to his interest in the electrical contracting firm, he was a partner in the Twin Brook Co. and operated the Twin Brook Mobile Home Park at Rothsville. He was also a member and past director of the Ephrata Chamber of Commerce.

He was a member and a past director of the Ephrata Lions Club, a 32nd degree Mason with membership in the Ephrata Lodge 665, F & A.M; the Lancaster Lodge of Perfection; the Reading Consistory, Lancaster County Club; Rajah Temple, Reading; the Lancaster County Shrine Club.

A past president of the Rothsville Fire Co., in his earlier years he was a pitcher for several local baseball clubs, including the Ephrata Chryslers and the Rothsville team.

Stauffer was active in the Boy Scout movement for many years. He founded the first troop in Rothsville and served as it's scoutmaster for over ten years and was formerly a commissioner in the Northeastern Lancaster County District, BSA.

In addition to his wife, the former Mary C. Weidler, surviving are two sons; J. Richard and Robert K. Stauffer, both of Ephrata; six grandchildren and a sister and brother: Kathryn E., wife of Norman B. Bouder and Warren S. Stauffer, both of Ephrata.
