Eben Coetzee (1952 - 2009)
Brief overview:
Eben (57) who ran a tuck shop from Ro-sashof smallholdings was shot and killed on 23rd June 2009. Eben and his wife, Suretta (45), just closed the shop to go home when the robbers struck.
The couple, formerly of Mooinooi in the North West, lived in the Vaal Triangle for the past three years. "The two robbers said I should open, but I said I would not," said Suretta. She heard shots and Eben fell to the ground. The robbers took Coetzee's firearm ran away. Mr. Hilgard Berg, the caretaker of the shop they rent, ran to the tuck shop. "I was in the house next to the tuck shop on the smallholding, but didn't hear the shots, he was still alive, but died while we talked to him."
