In 1871 he was living at 27, Evans Street, Poplar with his wife and 5 childdren. He was working as Grocers warehouseman. 10 years earlier he was a packing case maker and living at8 George Street Limehouse. In the 1891 census he was in hospital in Reigate Surrey
