About Ed Riley

Dad, (Ed) was a generous and kind man. He loved to work in the Garage or the basement where he had a wood working shop. When he would work he would wistle to his favorite tunes on the radio like "Hey there Georgy Girl" and "Winchester Cathedral". He was patient and always busy. When one of his 5 kids would do something that frustrated him he would cry out "Jimminy Christmas" who did this? Of course we would all say not me. He traveled 4 to 5 days a week but every night we could not disturb mom when she had her evening phone call from him that lasted forever. When he was home he spent most of his time fixing what we broke or spending time with the family. He loved to go camping, fishing, boating, and anything out doors. He was a great Honey do man because Mom always had something for him to do to the house like move a wall or make a cabinet. He could do anything. When we were sick he would get us Gingerale and icecream. When we did something wrong we got a hour long lecture. We used to tease each other, just beat me but not the lecture...He loved his family. He got sick with Guilleon Barre syndrome when he was 49 years old. He lived until he was 58 but would never be the same again. The syndrome caused his brain to behave like a person who had Alzheimers and slowly deteriorate. During these 9 years he was able to join the church, serve a mission, get married in the temple, and have his daughter Elizabeth sealed to him in the Washington D.C. temple. He is remembered as a kind and loving father, a gentle, romantic husband, and a good man to his friends and the people he would meet along the way.
