Windows of Wellsville Wellsville History Committee 1985 Windows of Wellsville Y Edgar LaMont Williams 1895-1977) Edgar LaMont Williams was born 3 August 1895 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of Charles Gilbert and Delila Durfee Williams. To those who knew and loved him, he was known as "Ted." He attended grammar and high school in Wellsville, Utah. Ted married Irma Haslam 5 July 1917 in the Logan Temple, and they were the parents of eight children: Loverill, Anna, Elizabeth "Betty," Lila May, Lamont Edgar, Merlin Ray, Roger Dean, and Irmalee. Irma was born 24 May 1896 in Wellsville, the daughter of George and Elizabeth Hill Maughan Haslam. Ted became a teacher and taught at North Logan Grammar School, Wellsville High School, and was a band and Boy Scout leader. He was principal of the Old Rock school in Wellsville. They moved to San Francisco, California, in October 1925 where he was an athletic teacher and coach, teaching a total of thirty-four years. Ted served as bishop of Balboa Second Ward. In 1961, they moved to San Jose, California, where he retired from educational work. He was an avid student of the Bible and the gospel, and his church work never ceased. Ted was called to a mission as bishop in the Paisley Ward, Paisley, Scotland, in1964. After returning home to San Jose in 1966, he became an ardent Oakland Temple worker. Ted died 14 May 1977 in San Jose and his interment is in the Oak Hill cemetery at San Jose. Irma died 24 May 1978. [Pages 696-697 - Windows of Wellsville] dwoolley Oct 2006
