About Edith Mary Evans
OVERVIEW
It is the oral history of a descendant of Edith's stepmother, a full-blooded Native American that reveals her true pedigree.
Few will be interested in Edith's story for she had no offspring. She inherited the urge to ranch in Long Valley after having been brought up by her widowed mother under the watchful eyes of her uncle Alvaro Evans.
The absurdly worded obituary for her father, an affected pantomime of the truth, was doubtless either written by her unbalanced mother or a sympathetic San Francisco Chronicle columnist, forever toadying to the Evans and Sen. George Hearst set.
